~Teagan Weintraub, Class of 2028

From a beautiful blue sky.
To a blanket of darkness.
A hush and stillness come across the land.
In the near forest the animals wonder
Animals are spooked by the afternoon shadow.
Run back into their homes
Birds stop singing and become silent.
The void lingers for what feels like an eternity
Long enough to make the birds wonder if we'll ever see the sun again.
Then, at last the sun peaks once more.
No longer hiding. The rays of light come across the earth
shining on trees.
The void crawls back to the shadows in which they came.
The darkness running from the sun
Bringing the light back.
