~Alex Pattinson, Class of 2024

“Tom, we ran out of food.”

“How? It’s been a week, and we stocked up for a month!”

“Maybe if you listened to me and only ate during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we would be fine!”

“I only ate a little bit extra!”

“Whatever. It doesn’t matter who did it anyways, that doesn’t change the fact that we are out of food!”

“How are we supposed to get food if we are a hundred meters underground?”

“Good point.”

“If we don’t think of something quick, we’re dead.”

“How about we try and build an underground farm?”

“With no sunlight? Good luck with that.”

“Well why can’t we just use our own light down here?”

“You really think that would work? You must be out of your mind.”

“Well it’s the only thing we can do right now. If you have any other ideas, tell me, but I’m going to get started on this before we starve to death.”

“Alright, fine. I have an old lamp that we can hang on the ceiling. It might be old but it’s the best light we have.”

“I can dig over here into the wall, it may have some surviving seeds.”

“Just be careful of the mounts we have holding up the roof. If those get damaged, we would most definitely suffocate.”

“Don’t worry. I got this.”

“Whatever you say.”

“It’s been 20 minutes, did you find anything?”

“Not yet. This probably wasn’t a good idea, there’s now a huge hole in the wall and could definitely collapse. How’s the lighting going?”

“It’s doing fine, I’m having trouble keeping it lit.”

“I think I found something! My shovel is hitting something hard, it might be something we can use!”

“THAT’S THE SUPPORT BEAM! WATCH OUT!”
