~Andrew Bates, Class of 2027
Back in ‘99, a spark began to form
Tom marched with the Pats and a dynasty was born
They had the backs, the receivers were stacked,
And they took the NFL by storm.
But then, in ‘01, their quarterback was hit,
And threw the league into a massive fit,
For the backup was just a guy named Brady,
His potential they had not a whit.
But deadly as a winter storm,
Their offense struck while their defense swarmed
And while they left powerhouses floored,
The rams were still there; and like a good sword,
they were not to be played with…
But not to be stored.
The pats, somehow, made it to the big game,
But will be beaten by the holders of fame…
The Rams! football’s next great dynasty!
The rams, they’d say, will make quick work of the pats,
So ladies and gents, take off your hats,
And bow to the rams, who crush teams flat!
But behold, the underdogs are making a stand,
Brady’s quick witted and his passes are grand!
He’d let loose the ball, through the air it would soar,
Into sure hands, what a play for the score!
But the Rams, they would not be outdone,
They thought, “Brady, that dang son of a gun”,
Warner came back; threw like dart from blowgun
And truly, now, the game has finally begun.
Brady was stuck, tied at 17
But he persevered, threw dimes into spleens
And when Vinatieri stepped up,
Boom! He kicked one through clean!
So yes, a dynasty that day was made,
And through the streets they would soon promenade,
But- what? The “mighty” rams were beaten!
And the Pats?
They were Saved.
