Conflict On The Lacrosse Field
Colter Martin, Class of 2025
“Yeah, yeah, I’m open!”
“No, I’m taking it to the cage.”
“I'm wide open, look at my matchup, Oh, come on man why did you have to take it to the cage.”
“I was confident in my abilities and I scored!”
“Even though you still scored, let's try and move the ball next time and look for one more.”
“Will do, here comes the fast break. You get up to the top right so we can get a good opportunity!”
“The slide is coming late, that’s all you, shoot it!”
“Thanks for the early notice.”
“No problem. That was a good shot and a great goal!”
“Oh my, our face off man just got hacked when he pulled it.”
“Yeah, thankfully the ref threw the flag.”
“Let's get set up in our man up play. We’ll run Check Tuesday this time.”
“No dude that plays never works, lets just do the simple ball rotation.”
“Coach said to run Check Tuesday and I’m just following what he says.”
“I don't care what he says, we need to score right now!”
“Maybe he doesn't always have the best plays, but he is our coach and we should follow what he says.”
“Do what you want to do but I’m not running the play, it's so stupid.”
“Come on, if we run it properly we should score almost every time.”
“Yeah except we never run it properly and usually end up turning the ball over.”
“That’s fine with me but we should give this our best effort and maybe it will turn out better than we originally thought.”
“Ok, I’ll listen to you this time, but I think we should talk to the coach about doing something different for man-up.”
“Alright, that's good with me.”

I really like how you go into such great depth about why each player feels they are in the right. Then at the end you explain how they overcame their issues to be better in the future.
Nice flash fiction story! I liked how you used things that regularly happen on the field, because it made this piece way more realistic. I liked when you talked about the matchups; that plays a large part when it’s time to dodge. Nice Job!

This could have had a better twist at the end. I like the way you kept detail throughout your story. Great job Colter.

I love how you went into depth in this. Great job Colter
I love this piece of writing. It takes you through the different emotions of the players whilst solely utilizing dialogue.
