~Theo Desatnik, Class of 2029

“Theo”! What I yawned to my mom. “Theo”! Wake up we’re going to miss the zodiac! “Ok” I yawned again as I got out of bed. I didn’t want to miss the zodiac (a zodiac is a small boat that takes you to different places and islands) because I was eager to snorkel but also a little apprehensive that something unexpected will happen. 

We were on the Islander II. I tried to get up but I was too exhausted from deep water snorkeling. Yesterday I saw sea turtles and starfish and a lot more stuff because I was in the Galapagos. I love it here but I also want to have fun every day so I finally got dressed and started walking through the cruise hall. 

Then when my whole family was done and reddy to go we bored the zodiac . As we approached the beach my face got pale as the white house. I was as pale as the white house because beach snorkeling because I don’t want to disrupt the wildlife! 

After I got my gear on we all except my two brothers and dad got into the water. The water was cool and beautiful! As I was exploring the coral and ocean wildlife in the water and saw ksea creatures of all sorts.  Like sea lions, coral and starfish. The ocean was dark blue but a little pale like clear water. 

Suddenly I heard a whoosh splash swerve. I was a little nervous because I couldn’t see it at first. But when I looked up I saw sea lions playing around me. I was overjoyed so I also took pictures with my moms waterproof camera. We also swimmed around them and loved being the galapagos! Soon after that I got to the beach and walked around to see more wildlife like iguanas or something like that. I also took pictures of the splash crash rustle stomp! “What was that”? I screamed out loud. 

I was petrified and scared but I looked around and found that it was another sea lion! I was a really cute one that was probably a baby sea lion. I wanted to touch it but the rule was that you can’t touch any plant life or animal life unless you got permission from the naturalist. 

Soon after that we bored the zodiac and got back to the cruise. When I got to the cruise I took a long shower and had a Shirley temple and some really good eggs! 

Some feedback if you are petrified or frightened that something bad or unexpected will happen just try it and be brave about doing something or else you might miss it and probably not get to do it again!
