~Will Richardson, Class of 2029
It was the end of lunch period. I was sitting with my friends at the table, chatting away. While eating, we always looked out at the kids to see what they’re doing. We saw this one boy walking across the lunch room with a tray in his hands. He sat in his seat, and then —
Booooooom!!!!!
I heard a kid say , “Alex just broke the seat!”
A lot of kids laughed. I laughed for 10 seconds. Then I realized it was my friend.
I stopped laughing.
I remembered that I saw my friend this morning, saving my seat. My friend was always there standing up for me. Then it hit me…
I have not been nice to him lately.
I regret what I did so much that I ran over to see if he was okay. He said he was fine. He got up and a teacher sent him to the principal.
I thought what could happen? He could get in big trouble or even worse he or his parents would pay for it. I was in a mix of emotions, sad, mad, glum, shocked every little thing was happening at once.
After lunch I went to see how he was doing. He said that the principal said that he called his parents. I tried to cheer him up but it was no use.
The day went by as usual but I was still thinking about lunch. I got home and went to bed.
The next day. In class I saw him and said, “how are you doing?”
He said” my parents are mad there, so mad that they are thinking about making me pay for it
so the days and weeks went on more and more until the school year was over. That seat was still never fixed after the thing. But the rest of the year was great. We never talked about it again and eventually he did not have to pay for it so life was great in school.
We watched kids in the cafeteria so he never broke anything again.
