~Morgan Lin, Class of 2029

Bang! I woke up to the sounds of my parents cooking and the sun shining right into my face.

We were in South Carolina with my cousin, aunt, uncle, my brother and my parents. I was feeling eager because there were so many things to do here like go to an amusement park, go to the beach and lots more! We were here for my brother’s club baseball tournament. “Time to eat!” my mom exclaimed. I rushed over to the dining table as my stomach rumbled. My aunt, uncle and parents had made scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes.

My dad handed out the plates and forks. My eyes widened as I watched the food being placed on the table. I dug into the bacon and the pancakes. When I was full, my mom asked us if we wanted to go to the beach. I jumped up in excitement, “yes” I shouted joyfully. I was elated when I heard the news. “But first you have to sit down so you do not get a stomach ache.” Said my mom. “Okay” I replied, I waited about 15 minutes then asked my mom if we could go. My mom said yes but we were going with Logan (My cousin who is 6 years old.)

But there was one problem, Logan did not want to go to the beach. Logan just wanted to watch TV. He enjoys watching Bluey, Sing 2, and Minecraft videos. While I got dressed in my bathing suit, my aunt and uncle tried to convince Logan to come to the beach and shut off the TV. Eventually, my aunt shut off the TV and forced Logan to come. Later, when everyone got dressed and I slipped on my crocs, we headed over to the beach. We had a charming view from our suite especially at sunset when the sky was purple, blue, and pink. It felt like 90° outside when I stepped foot outside. The waves outside were collapsing hard like charging bulls. We found a spot with an umbrella to put our towels and our sunscreen on. I was really hot already just standing there on the sand, it felt like my feet were on fire.

I could not wait to get into the water! My cousin was whining about not wanting to go because he did not want to  get wet and was apprehensive that something might happen to him. But my uncle said he could ride on his shoulders and hold him up. I rushed over to the shore beside my brother. Then I swam into the water freely. I felt the coolness of the water hit my back as I drifted further out into the ocean. I looked back and I could see our hotel and our hotel room.

Then, I saw my cousin coming in on my uncle’s shoulders. I was glad that he came to swim. Logan was wearing goggles to protect water from going in his eyes from the water. Then, a humongous wave hit me right in the back. My cousin laughed in excitement. I could tell he was having lots of fun and it was better for him than watching TV all day. After that, another gigantic wave hit us! The wave pushed me back at least 2 feet! Then another wave hit us and hit me right in my face.

My Aunt gave us boogie boards to ride on them because the waves were humongous. My brother also got a boogie board to ride the waves. I hopped on the boogie boards and waited for another wave. Finally, a colossal wave hit us. I zoomed up with the board and rode the wave and then drastically I boogied back down off the wave. Later after lots of more vast waves and about 30 minutes later, Logan got tired of being in the ocean and got out. Then I followed because I was getting tired too.

When I was walking to our spot the sand stuck to my feet. I could feel it in between my toes making my feet very uncomfortable. My feet were also burning over the warmth of the sand. Next, I skipped over to our spot and brushed the sand off my feet. My aunt went over to the booth on the beach and got us all ice cream. She got me strawberry ice cream since she knows I love strawberries. The Ice cream started melting so I decided to eat it fast. It made me refreshed as I kept eating the ice cream. Now, Logan loves going to the beach. Finally we scurried over to the faucet to rinse off the sand. We walked back to our hotel room.

I had a great time at the beach and would love to go again!
