Journal #1

Today we officially kicked off our capstone project. We all gathered as a grade in the Ilab to talk about what skills we would need to accomplish and what work we need to do to make this a successful project. We were told that we will take our skills that we developed through our time at Fenn and put those skills into this project as we round up our final weeks at Fenn. Problem solving is the key skill for this project, we are in groups of five working for different groups to solve a problem that the organization is facing. My group is the Boston Area Gleaners and we are working to spread awareness about volunteer work because they need more volunteers to help work on the farm.

I am excited for this project because I think that I am a good problem solver and I can take my problem solving skills into this project.  I know it’s something different than the regular curriculum in our classes but I think it will be fun and interesting. I am really excited to see how it turns out. The work is gonna be a lot but I think we can do it and accomplish something great and it will be a good note to end on for our Fenn Careers.

Journal #2

We are in our third day of the capstone project and so far we are making good progress. We have drafted an email and sent it to the Boston Area Gleaners and we are waiting for a response back. Other assignments we need to do are an infographic with our group about what organization we are helping and what problem we are going to help them solve. We also are writing individual book reflections about our experience with reading the book “How the Other Half Eats” which is the book we read for our topic. Some things we are looking forward to in the next couple of weeks is an interview with our group “The Boston Area gleaners”, where we will ask questions about what they do and try to get more information about them. This project will culminate at the end of the month with a presentation to the group and hopefully we will be able to successfully spread awareness to volunteer work at the Boston Area Gleaners.
