A Sad & Harsh Reality

Discovering the hidden truths of reality. The Parable of the Sowers taught me the things I didn’t know about the sad and harsh reality some live in the world. I learned the different themes and the way of life the character experienced in this interesting story. Reading Parable of the Sowers challenged me and taught me to really think hard about the circumstances the character was facing. I learned how the main character worked around the difficult times, which was a life lesson for me, because you can’t let the bad things in life shape who you are.

I started reading Parable of the Sowers as just a book we had to read over spring break for the new and upcoming Capstone project. The expectations were to read the whole book over break and then fill out a reading log of each night we read until we finished the book. The book started pretty slow but after the first chapter or two I started to understand and get the jist of what the main character was going through the harsh reality she had to move around in her daily life. I took it upon myself to read every night and keep the log of me reading. Soon after spring break when school started I felt ready to talk about it and write anything I needed to write about the book. In the book there were a few themes cemented in the whole book like the confusion the main character faced and the amount of chaos around her. Part of the book was religious, so her going to church throughout the mess and destruction around her was a big part of the story. She had to ignore those problems and go about her day.

At the start of spring break I was stressed out about reading this long book over spring break, but I took it. the challenge and read and did the logs everyday. honestly I dont regret one bit and the assignment was fun after all.
